The great people over at Retekess were kind enough to send this powerfull 7 watt FM (Broadcast band) radio transmitter to me to review. As you may know, I love community radio stations! These are super critical right now here in the USA with the ever increasing censorship and consolidation of existing means of getting your voice out.
As a result, I want to give one of these away!

Camera up close we're gonna unbox it We're gonna go through its features and Functions we're going to plug it into Some music we're going to turn on a Radio and we're going to listen to it so Let's do that now the reticus TR 509 has Arrived all right here we are I am so Excited to review these things I'm also So excited to pass this along to one of You I am a huge fan of part 15 radio Stations I've run my own for 23 years Now These things are maybe not part 15 Unless you run them at the lowest speed At the lowest wattage but what they are Are great little Community radio Stations drive-in movies theaters use These churches use these schools use These there are a lot of schools in the U.S that currently have hobby stations So kids can get an idea if they're Interested in the broadcast field I'm a Huge fan of that I hope more high Schools more middle schools start their Own little radio stations with these Things they're cheap they're easy to set Up they're awesome This again is the radicus TR 509 it is The US version And uh let's go ahead and unbox this Thing open it up I'll show you it's Amazing how they have packed all this in First we got our little uh manual here And it tells us everything we need to
Know how to use it Right looks like 10 pages of good stuff There That's cool Then we've got our power supply here A little power pack S between 100 and 240 volts that's cool 12 volt output 1.67 amps so you could Run this off of a 12 volt inverter or Trade off a car battery Or solar so it has a lot of Possibilities you could set this thing Up in a very remote location for Instance and transmit far away from Where you actually live with a single 100 watt panel And a little 12 volt inverter and a Battery to go with it here's the main Box Very compact got some cooling vents here It is anodized aluminum And you can see the cooling fins On the back here 12 volts 2 amps Max input we have a fan And we have our antenna connection Awesome Microphone input so if you wanted to do Direct mic input or audio input And then we have our volume up and down Mic volume up and down power on plus or Minus for the sparious settings that You're going to have in here Awesome Down at the very bottom
We have an antenna that fits right on The back of the unit And that's adjustable for our SWR Readings So I'll go ahead and screw that in Now if you wanted to get better range You go and build or buy A base style a large style antenna for It and you can increase your range the Higher up you put this The better off you be right And then lastly it comes with a cable And I'm going to use this cable you Could use this for several things right I could hook this thing To a MP3 player like this Hook it to that and play music directly Off of that Or in my case I'm going to hook it to a Computer a little laptop that I have Transmitting uh 1670 and it'll transmit That same signal on FM So you could use Winamp or a auto audio Program there to stack full of the music Or news that you want to hear it's a Nice long cable looks like it's a Well I'd say it's four feet maybe five Cool All right let me plug this thing in all Right we've got it all powered up I'm Going to go ahead and extend my antenna No I can't extend it all the way while I'm filming but there we go we turn it On there we turn it off
It's back on we're gonna we're gonna Change our Channel 103.1 is the channel that I would like To transmit on today And that's all there is so the mic's not Hooked up I'm gonna turn that down This it's good to listen to it on a Radio this is so simple to use guys this Right here if we turn it up too much We're going to get garbled audio so we Don't want to do that so we're just Going to we're just gonna put it right In the middle and see how well it sounds They've already got music hooked up and Playing Let's go walk over the radio and see how A list sounds [Music] That's it that's all there is to it She's transmitting She's playing I got Winamp hooked up on My laptop and she is broadcasting on 103.1 there is nothing to it but to do It with this thing my friends it hooks Up that simple I guess that will do it For tonight uh like I said leave a Compelling comment Leave a compelling comment on this radio Why you should own your own personal Private radio station and of the top 10 We'll pick a winner Two weeks from tonight Saturday night 7 P.M eastern time we'll do a live show And we'll draw it gentle pick the best
