Lawn Care Tips For Your Lawn Tractor
To keep your lawn looking its best, clean and maintain your lawn mower. The underside of the mower should be free of any clippings that may have collected. Lawn clippings can clog up the air intake and make it difficult to bag or mulch your grass. Moisture and fertilizer traces can also corrode the mower’s deck, causing premature rust and wear. To avoid this problem, use a lawn mower cleaner to remove the clippings and clean the mower deck.
To keep children and pets safe, make sure the blade deck is up and in the forward position when using a push mower. Start in low gear and change to a higher one if necessary. While mowing, use a lower gear if needed. Then adjust the blade deck to the appropriate speed and gear to avoid overlapping previously mowed areas. Whenever possible, mow in the forward direction to avoid bumping into pets or children.
It is important to keep your lawn trimmed to the right height for a good look. If you cut your lawn too short, you’ll end up with a patchy, unattractive lawn. Avoid crew cuts. A crew cut forces your lawn to focus on regrowing blades rather than deepening roots. This will reduce the amount of nutrients the grass can produce and leave your lawn looking patchy and unhealthy. Nevertheless, if you’re going for a lush lawn, make sure you never cut it too short.
