Moving 100 Tonnes of Gravel on My Backyard Golf Green

Moving 100 Tonnes of Gravel on My Backyard Golf Green

We are moving 100 tonnes of gravel today on my backyard golf green. I’m making it nice and level and starting to put in undulations and some nice breaks to make it a fun putting surface!

Another day on the green build today We're going to be cleaning up all the Loose stuff from the top so we don't Have any loose sediment that'll run into The drain so you can see I've started Down here already making a pile so a bit More hand work this morning clear all of That out and then from there we'll put Our root barrier or our wicking barrier On the outside and then we'll start Cutting all that gravel in getting our Levels getting things sorted out this Should all have to be done by the end of The week because we've got some rain Coming at the start of next week so I Want to have all that done a wicking Barrier in so if it does rain anything From the side here's you're not going to Wash onto the green that's our thought Process so Once that once that is done we are Really really set once the gravel's in It's only putting the sand on top Compacting it down Selling some grass Bro The goal is just so you guys know to Have this done I'd love to sew the bent Grass on this green by the end of January so hopefully start doing some Irrigation next week Just getting into it it's awesome man Loving this sun [Music]

[Applause] All right Foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] Thank you [Music] All right that's all that stuff cleaned Up Looks a lot better now that I've done That just uh like the surface doesn't Have all the dust on it so if we did get Rain or something wouldn't wash into all This gravel here and just cause problems It's funny like when you drive the Skitty on here and just turn it around a Little bit that man it brings up some Dust like it's crazy so When I first start laying down my gravel At the desired height I've got to make Sure That I basically start filling up at the Entrance first and pushing out along all Of the areas just so we don't rough up The subgrade We're supposed to get some rain this Over though so it should help firm the Surface up a bit as well And that should be enough but I'm going To now dig out some flush points on the Main lines and sit like a little pit Outside of the green So I'll do that now and then we're going

To put that barrier around the outside So I ended up stopping um yesterday Because we got rain rain kept coming in Coming and coming we've got about I'll Say about 12 mil of rain overnight green Filled up really really well there's no Wet spots low spots on here it's looking Really really good actually and I'm so Glad I cleaned up all that Dusty stuff Off the top to make a little bit better Now while it was raining I didn't have the camera on because the Camera would have got soaking wet but I Did clean up behind the DM here as well So behind the dam does look a lot tidier We took out that stump it's nice and Compacted down there now And looking a lot better and how much Foot is that look and it's not wet Behind the dam anymore It always used to be wet behind the dam Even when there was It had been dry for a couple of weeks so That stop leak stuff is working so good In the dam I mean that extra 10 mil last Night's filled it back up even more Damn's chocolate block again It's looking so good So that's done now obviously this area Here we're going to raise up a little Bit so I've left the soil loose left Some extra pipe in there so I can raise It up because this edge of the green is Going to be a little bit higher so we're

Gonna have to move it up just a little Bit but I just want that in there before We start dropping gravel everywhere and Then Would just be really painful to try and Do that with the root barrier around the Outside and everything else right let's Do the other one Online uh the website was I'll put it up down the bottom of the Screen I bought it one day to sail on What we're gonna do is we're basically Just gonna put it in I bought some pegs just to smack it into The dirt now you could just use Something like Some steaks from Bunnings or something Like that which I've got some steaks There as well which I might use if this Just doesn't work otherwise I'm just Going to use those steaks to do my Levels Well let's just do it let's see how it Goes it's about 100 meters all the way Around or just short of 100 meters I'm Pretty sure so That's around that anyway so let's start Putting this stuff down and see how it Goes [Music] Thank you [Music] [Applause]

[Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] Thank you Foreign Probably So we've done a really really rough Level on this I need to cut some more Gravel in to make the top section A Little bit more flat so it drops too Much throttle section's pretty good to Be honest but I'll get in um the laser Level laser at a flat spot for the top Then it's got a second tier the bottom Section is pretty flat where I want it To be and then I thought it all fades Down as a 2T green Into the bottom section which will make A nice hole in one pin down there as Well if you hit the ball on the slope And get it to go down that direction So next step after this is obviously Bring a bit more gravel in level it out More then get a whacker Packer and Compact it Probably after that I'm going to get my Sprinklers in so hopefully start Sprinklers next week

Or the following week depending on how I Go with this and everything But yeah we've got 100 ml of gravel in To be honest it's probably a little bit Thicker in quite a lot of areas probably At 150 to 200 which is not a problem at All I'd rather have more than less That's why I ordered quite a bit extra I Think it looks an extra 35 40 tonne Worth of gravel because I knew I could Use it to level my water tanks at the Top and put a couple of different things As well But yeah thanks guys so much for Watching appreciate yours excited to see You guys in the next one [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause]
